Our favourite riverside campsite in Bohinjska Bistrica. Great amenities, an easy walk into town. We use it as the overnight base for trips to Lake Bohinj (Camp Bohinj itself is too tight for our rig).

Camp Bohinj
Right on Lake Bohinj. The location is top-tier, but our 11 m Empire Liner doesn't fit through the gate (pitches max out at 8 m). During the day we use the paid lot next to the campsite (paddleboard, boat, mountain hikes); overnight we head to Camp Danica in Bohinjska Bistrica (15 min by car). Triglav National Park rangers are uncompromising — wild camping in the area is not tolerated.
Campsite right on Lake Bohinj — tested, location is top-tier: the lake, paddleboard, boats, the Vogel cable car, fantastic hikes into the Julian Alps. During the day we use the paid lot next to the campsite (paddleboard / boat carries easily from there); overnight we head to Camp Danica (15 min by car). Overnighting in the lot is not allowed. The campsite shop is well stocked with local food and there's a restaurant. Triglav NP rangers are uncompromising — wild camping in the area is not tolerated.

On Wörthersee — picturesque little town, water access from the public beach, boat rentals or via paddleboard. Great restaurant on the headland next to where the small river flows in.
Carinthia by Wörthersee — town rhythm + lake. We know it more from a hotel stay; the campsite itself is TIGHT and pitch #426 we lived through to the millimetre (and held our breath). The surrounding location is top-tier: park, playgrounds, mini-world, an adventurous trip up the side stream.

A rescue when you leave Prague late and won't make Austria. Last time we parked in the middle of a football pitch — VIP position for the Empire Liner. Bonus: amazing cycle paths along the surrounding pond embankments. Minus: mosquitoes, pond swimming, no pool, gastro is straight from the nineties. A one-night stop, not a long-haul stay.
